Coyote’s Song Set Design
Coyote’s Song is a fantastic play being produced and directed by Brie Blakeman from the Kansas City Art Institute. A collaboration between many artists it will be a free production performed by Kansas city teens. This performance will bring attention to environmental abuses, and will expand and educate on new and exciting dancing styles. ArtPlay is doing its part to support this production by working with children from Operation Breakthrough and Rosebrooks Women’s Shelter to design and build the set. The children’s art will become the backdrops for the dancers. A world of child drawings and wild paint.

DeLaSalle High’s Art Farm
DeLaSalle Education Center is a high school in Kansas City that provides a safe but challenging learning environment for high school students that need an alternative to the traditional system. An open and progressive school ArtPlay is working in collaboration with them to create an outdoor learning environment. Taking unused land outside the school the students will be building an urban farm sculpture park. The produce from this farm will be used to feed the student body with excess being sold to surrounding restaurants and neighborhoods to support further growth. A lesson in sustainability, environmentalism, art, and commerce.
Rosebrooks Women’s Shelter
We have been providing weekly classes at Rosebrooks for over a year. Our first site, and the inspiration for what has become ArtPlay, Rosebrooks is a place for healing and rebirth. It is a core believe of ours that art is the manifestation of the human spirit, and the essence of creation. We use our personal artistic power to help awaken theirs. Covering their walls in murals, building sculptures designed by the children, and mentoring the youth through classes to strengthen their sense of worth and vision.
