Mentoring is the purpose of this group. Not only do the people in the community have an enriched experience through the arts, but KCAI students are able to see their education put to use in a hands-on atmosphere, while sharing with the community.
ArtPlay’s main function is to provide quality art classes to low income and looked over parts of our community. Through these classes we come to understand the needs and nature of students, and through them, the larger community. We use this to come up with ways to creatively benefit the school, neighborhood, or shelter we’ve found ourselves in. Often these classes will culminate in a large communal project that can become a permanent part of the class location.
